Judgment of Paris 1976 or Do We Mean Judgement of Wheaton 2026?
Instructor: Anton Maletich
In Paris on May 24th, 1976, to commemorate the United States' bicentennial, some of France's foremost wine authorities conducted a blind tasting consisting of both French and Napa Valley, California wines. They voted on what they deemed the best. Since it was a "blind" tasting, they didn't know which were French and which were American. There were two categories in the tasting: one of top quality Chardonnays and another of red wines (Bordeaux wines from France and Cabernet Sauvignon wines from Napa Valley, California). To almost everyone's surprise the California wines were rated best in each category!!
Join us this July, exactly fifty years later, to reenact this famous tasting and judge for ourselves which wines WE prefer.
All wines will be judged in flights "blind" ballots collected and the votes tallied.
Let's see where France and the U.S. stand today!
The tasting will be accompanied by a four-course meal to celebrate the occasion.
Join us for this fun event on Thursday, July 23rd at 6:00 pm. Cost: $150.00 per person plus gratuity. To register, call: 630.462.0898.
