MATT PETERSON:Matt Peterson Trio Jazz

From Debussy to Gershwin, Matt's piano styling is comfortable. Join us on Saturday evening for a relaxed dinner, delicious wine and great music. . . a complete evening for all the senses.

Matt Peterson is a classical and jazz pianist from Seattle, WA. He has performed around the country as a soloist and in groups. His accolades include being the overall winner of the Wheaton College Ben Heppner Concerto Competition with Gershwin’s Concerto in F, and being an invited performer to the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival. He has also performed with the Disneyland All-American College Band at the Disneyland parks in Anaheim, California, and with the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. He holds a Masters degree in jazz studies from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

Matt is also an in-demand composer of concert works as well as works for film, theatre, and Internet productions. His full-length CDs of his original piano composition, The Bridge, and The Paradise Suite, are available on iTunes. Read more about Matt >

Judy Roberts

JUDY ROBERTS:

Though known by the Chicago Tribune as “Chicago’s Favorite Jazz Woman,” Judy is recognized worldwide for her jazz performances. From her multiple Grammy nominations to international jazz festivals from Singapore to Holland to Monterey, California and Newport Beach, Chicago’s London House will always be her flagship. Every musician and every person who loves music; no matter what genre, needs to experience the music of Judy Roberts. There is no one else like her!

GREG FISHMAN:

Greg is a star in his own right, performing with Woody Hermann’s Big Band and countless other well-known performers as well as personally acclaimed both nationally and internationally as an artist and teacher. He has multiple recordings, is author to numerous publications and is teacher and mentor to many of the young musicians emerging on the music scene today. Greg is one of the foremost experts on the music of Stan Getz.

Carmen Stokes, Jazz ArtistWe were thrilled to have the talented and engaging Jazz Artist Carmen Stokes perform at Suzette's on Fridays this past spring!

Carmen Stokes entertains patrons on the Baby Grand Piano in our dining room on Friday evenings this fall & winter. Her delightful charm and silky chords are the perfect accompaniment to Suzette's relaxed, French country cuisine.

CARMEN STOKES:
From Classical to Jazz training, Carmen incorporates jazz, gospel, blues, funk, classical and Latin forms into her music. Performing internationally and nationally, she has graced the stage with legendary artist including Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Prince and countless others. Chicago Jazz Legend Ramsey Lewis contacted Carmen to perform his songs at the Chicago Jazz Awards. Her tribute to Lewis commanded a standing ovation and a glowing review from Howard Reich, arts critic for the Chicago Tribune.

He holds a Masters degree in jazz studies from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and a Bachelors degree in Classical Piano and Music Composition from Wheaton College. Matt is also a composer of concert works as well as works for film, theatre, and Internet productions. At Suzette’s, Matt plays a mix of French classical music, jazz, Edith Piaf, and Jacques Brel, and takes requests.

Three Courses for $30 during the dates: Saturday, January 26–February 7, 2019. Our bonus menu this year is a choice between the ever-popular traditional French Cassoulet or our Elegant Seafood Crepe! It is a hard choice...Cassoulet weather? Yes. But our Seafood Crepe also warms the soul...both are a must try.

Our regular menu will also be available during this time.

Voted as one of the most "Romantic Restaurants in Chicago," Suzette's has created a special Valentine's menu. Our intimate atmosphere, along with delicious cuisine and award-winning wine list, will create an affair to remember. We have also created beautiful sweets to give to someone even sweeter. Vallee de la Loire Wine Class

INSTRUCTOR: ANTON MALETICH. The Loire River stretches 280km from the Atlantic Ocean to the Massif Central in south central France. It also flows through some of France's oldest and proudest wine producing regions. We will explore some of these seldom visited appellations like Saumur-Champigny and Touraine along with some of the more familiar ones like Sancerre and Chinon. Six wines and tasting menu $85 all inclusive.

French Macaron Cooking Class

INSTRUCTOR: HEAD PASTRY CHEF, HEATHER BUCHAN. French Macaron Recipes are usually basic, but it is learning the right technique that makes your venture into making the macarons successful. This hands-on class will give everyone the opportunity to learn and practice these techniques. The class will be taught by our Head Pastry Chef, Heather Buchan. The cost is $30 per adult and $15 per child (ages 6–12). Up to 2 children per adult, please. 10:00 am–1:00 pm

Wine Tasting Class: Wines From Georgia—Birthplace of Viticulture

INSTRUCTOR: ANTON MALETICH. When I say Georgia I don't mean the home of Scarlett or the Braves. Nestled between the Greater Caucasus and Lesser Caucasus mountains, Georgia forms a bridge between Asia and Europe. Over centuries invaders swept through it, Persian, Greek, Roman, Turks, Mongols, Russians. And through all that, Georgians have gone on making wine. That's been more than 8,000 years! Taste a selection of some of these truly unique wines and learn a little history about the world's oldest wine making region. A pairing menu will be served. $85 per person all inclusive.

Beaujolais Nouveau DayTime: 6:00-9:00 pm

All over France on Thursday, people will be celebrating the day when bottles of this year's Beaujolais Nouveau wine hit the shelves. Beaujolais Nouveau Day has become one of the best known festivals in France and is celebrated all over the world. This young wine, Beaujolais Nouveau, it is on the shelves between six to eight weeks after the grapes are harvested. 

The release date of the Beaujolais was established in 1985. It was decided that the third Thursday in November would be the uniform release date. The main festival is in Lyon where barrels of Beaujolais Nouveau wine are rolled by wine-growers through the centre before being opened.
